Walgreens Buys RiteAid -- What Does The Future Hold?

It's true, a deal is in the works for Walgreens to buy RiteAid for $9 billion cash (17.2 billion total). The deal should be completed in the second quarter of 2016, so about 6 months from now. It's not clear if RiteAid will keep its name or if all stores will switch to become Walgreens. We'll have to see how this impacts the Plenti programs and Balance Rewards. Hmmmm.

If you want to read more, the story is on all the news feeds, or here's a link.  Right now CVS is the largest drug chain, but with the buy out of Riteaid by Walgreens, Walgreens will be a close second.
