Toys R Us Lego Mini-Build

 At Toys R Us tomorrow, May 4, from noon to 2 pm, there will be a free Lego Star Wars mini build. Children can build a mini-version of Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter from the Yoda Chronicles show on Cartoon Network. Supplies are limited so go early.

Free Comic Book Saturday Is Tomorrow

The annual free comic book giveaway is this Saturday, May 4, at participating stores. There are 50 different special edition comic books to choose from, like SpongeBob and Star Wars.  Find a participating store here. Some stores give the child more than one. No promises, except that each child will get at least one. Be sure to note the store hours. In a spot check, most opened at 10 am or 11 am. This event always happens on the first Saturday in May and has a long history.

Conviction in Phoenix Fake Coupon Case

A Phoenix, AZ, woman is going to prison for 2 years for her involvement in a fake coupon ring. Read about it here. She may have to pay up to $5 million in restitution. She is guilty of counterfeiting. Police seized more than $25 million worth of fake coupons and $2 million in assets from her home. Counterfeit coupons were brought in from overseas and sold on line. These were high value free item coupons, like for a free box of Pampers worth $12, etc.

Distrust any source that wants to sell you multiples of the same high value free item coupon(s). There is no legitimate source of dozens of identical high-value free item coupons, with the very rare exception of someone who wins a sweepstakes of a year's supply of a particular product.
