Meijer Shoppers -- End of Double Coupons

Meijer is ending all double coupons in all stores Aug 25. What a sad day. Even though not every Meijer store doubles, it's a blow for those shoppers who are used to doubled .50 coupons. Of course, as always when stores announce that they are stopping doubling, there are reassurances that they will lower prices and use other promotion methods. In this case, Meijer says the emphasis will be on mPerks. None of this will make up for the loss of double coupons, but there will still be savings opportunities. The 'fact' stated on the Meijer Facebook page that I think lacks credibility is that only 5% of shoppers take advantage of (double) coupons. Research has shown over and over that 80% of shoppers use coupons either 'always', 'very often' or 'sometimes'. That doesn't jive with Meijer's 5% claim. My guess is they want to minimize how many people will be upset and soothe everyone with promises of big savings through mPerks.

Agreed! with the deceptive & false language that Meijer is using to not upset patrons.

*sigh* At least we still have Kroger and 'maybe' some other unknown stores. Harris-Teeter does double and triple coupons on 'certain' rare promotional occasions (you have to have their weekly Store Ad to know when).

Other sad thing is that Sunday Ad coupons are dropping in number. If you go to "thekrazycouponlady.com" and look at their Newspaper tab, they will show you 'what' coupons are coming in nationwide Sunday newspapers ahead of time, so no one has to waste money buying a Sunday newspaper only to be disappointed at Zero coupons or waste time driving to 7-Eleven to sift through a Sunday paper in order to decide whether or not to buy it.

Ciao!
