Right now, Amazon has the red one on sale for $39.99 and free shipping. The normal price is $59.99. I saw them at Costco about a year ago for $49.99 with an extra bowl. So $39.99 and free shipping is a great deal.
The way it works is that you put the silver bowl in the freezer for at least 8 hours before you want to make ice cream. When the bowl is totally cold and frozen, you set it on the base and add your ingredients. Run it for 20 minutes, and you've got yummy homemade ice cream.
