Arizona Arrest For Counterfeiting Free Item Coupons

There was an arrest in AZ yesterday of 3 women in connection with a massive coupon counterfeiting operation. Read about it here and here. These people were selling fake free items coupons for 50% of face value on a site called "SavvyShopper". They made millions. It's kind of humorous that the article would refer to this as "a new kind of coupon forgery and counterfeiting". This has been going on for 20+ years. Remember Coupon Connie Arvidson in 1990? She was sentenced to 27 months for the same thing. I guess the new twist is that the coupons were printed overseas and brought into the country, then sold here. But the crime is the same. If someone is going to sell you a high value free item coupon for 50% of face value, and let you buy as many as you want, that's the ultimate red flag that they are fake.
