Missing Update, Target News, Family Fun $3

If you get Red Plum inserts in the mail instead of the Sunday paper, be sure to check the RedPlum packet that came in yesterday's mail. Mine had both the 1/3 inserts.

The free Tide RR deal at Walgreens is causing fits. The Register Reward isn't printing as it should. Of course the checker/manager is going to tell you it didn't print because you used coupons, which isn't true. The machines are not programmed correctly. I'm guessing that not all the eligible UPCs were entered into the system to trigger the reward. If your coupon doesn't print, ask the manager to rering everything without any coupons. Chances are the Tide Register Reward will still not print, proving it had nothing to do with coupon use. Suggest in a nice voice that a gift card for the price of the Tide, or a free bottle on the spot, would be fair. As a last resort you can call the catalina company 1-888-8COUPON. Have your receipt in hand. They will mail you the coupon but it will take 6-8 weeks.

Surprise Price Adjustment at Lowes

I had a pleasant surprise at Lowes on Christmas Eve. The story started last Wednesday Dec 23, when I stopped at Lowes to get 3 strands of lights and 1 lit garland. I chose Lowe's because all Christmas was 50% off. I took my goodies home and plugged in the first strand, which immediately shorted out. I was too tired to worry about it then, but the next day George was heading into town so I asked him to take the defective strand back and get me the same thing. He came home later with an odd look on his face, then handed me a bag with two boxes of lights and said, "I got $8 cash back". Huh?? It turns out the receipt was in the bag, and when he presented it with the bad strand, the cashier looked at it and said, "Christmas is 75% off now, so I'm going to refund you the difference on everything." She handed him some cash, and with it he was able to get 2 boxes for what I had paid for one, and he came home with $8 in overage. I don't know if it is Lowes policy to price adjust after the fact, or if we just lucked out, but it was a happy moment.

I'm proud of the strength and longevity of RefundCents and want to make the Anniversary issue a blow-out. To do that, I need lots of help from readers, and want to reward contributors with free issues and prizes. Everyone can join in, even if you don't get the print issue. Please include a person in the picture. The choice of topics is huge. You could write about a great deal, an excellent shopping experience, how couponing has changed your life, helping charities with your stockpiles, your personal couponing/stockpiling philosophy, your history with RefundCents, tips for organizing, how your skills have improved over the years, how you've trained the next generation of couponers, your profits over the years, anything that is shopping/coupon related and of interest to fellow members.
* If there are too many articles for the Jan/Feb issue, they will be included in the March or April issue. You still get the full reward. If you are on-line only, you will be mailed the issue that contains your article.

** FRONT AND BACK cover pictures and articles:
Submit a Tips & Talk article (see above). If it is chosen for the front or back cover of the 30th Anniversary issue, you get one year! added to your subscription. That's a $25 value.
Tip: Clear, colorful happy pictures are chosen for the covers. Creativity counts. Take a look at a lot of the past RC covers here for inspiration. If you turn your camera vertically, that works for the cover. Horizontal pictures work for the back cover.
