Remember, seniors can get a lifetime pass for about the cost of one day's entrance to any park, and it's good at every park. Buy it at the entrance and hold onto it.
The picture above was taken at Arches National Park, in Utah (near Moab, a.k.a. Biking Capital of the World). The parks in Southern Utah -- Zions, Arches, Bryce, CanyonLands, and Dead Horse Point --- are like nothing you'll see anywhere else. The rock formations are bright orange/red and the hiking is spectacular. If possible, go in spring, fall, or winter. Summer is wonderful but HOT, HOT, HOT.
