The rumors are flying that Walgreens will finally come out with an official coupon policy on Thursday. Let's hope. My gut tells me that the wonderful 10 page letter that was written by RefundCents members in March, may have been the tipping point that finally got the job done. The timing makes sense. It takes the corporate world awhile to go through all the motions. We'll have a better sense if we had any input when we actually see the policy. Remember, we outlined it completely for them! This is what was sent to the CEO, Head of Advertising, Head of Marketing, Mr. Gregory D. Wasson, Mr. Craig Sinclair, Ms. Kimberly Feil. Wouldn't it be a hoot if the official policy looked remarkably like this:
Proposed Walgreens Corporate Coupon Policy
* Walgreens accepts all types of manufacturer coupons, Walgreens in-store coupons, and legitimate Internet printed coupons.
* Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and all applicable Walgreens store coupons on a single item.
* Multiple identical manufacturer coupons can be accepted as long as the customer is purchasing sufficient stock to match the coupons. Store manager reserves the right to limit quantities.
* When items are on sale Buy One Get One Free, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the final price does not go below zero for the cost of the two items.
* When items are on sale Buy One Get One Free, and the customer presents a Buy One Get One Free manufacturer coupon, both items are free.
* A Register Reward is a manufacturer coupon. It can be used on a total purchase that meets or exceeds the face value of the Register Reward, before tax.
* The customer can redeem more than one Register Reward in a single transaction as long as the number of items purchased matches or exceeds the number of Register Rewards presented.
* Customers cannot use a Register Reward and a manufacturer coupon on a single item. The number of items purchased must match or exceed the number of manufacturer coupons + Register Rewards presented by the customer. Walgreens store coupons do not factor into this equation.
* If a coupon scans, it will be accepted. If it doesn't scan, the cashier has the option of entering it manually.
* If the value of a manufacturer coupon exceeds the shelf price of the item, the coupon value will be adjusted downward to the shelf price. Cash back is not given.
* The customer is responsible for any applicable sales tax.
* Expired Register Rewards, up to 60 days past date, will be accepted at manager’s discretion.
* Using manufacturer coupons or store coupons does not stop a Register Reward from printing at checkout.
* Generally, a new Register Reward will not be generated if a Register Reward from the same product is used as payment on the second transaction.
* All Register Rewards generated at check-out are to be given to the customer.
* Correct coupon use is encouraged, and shoppers who use coupons are valued customers.
* Walgreens accepts coupons on sale items and clearance items.
* Coupon redemption can not result in cash back to the customer.
* Walgreens does not accept competitors’ coupons or match competitors’ prices.
* Walgreens only accepts coupons on merchandise we sell.
