I have added more coupons to the RedPlum list Preview of Sunday C/O's (4/11). You should get this insert either in the mail yesterday or today, or in next Sunday's paper. The RedPlum that I got in yesterday's mail included a CoverGirl B1G1F (5/31/10) with no maximum value. I guarantee that coupon that will work great with deals over the next 7 weeks.
Which brings up the topic of Procter & Gamble coupons. As you know, P&G has their own coupon insert which comes out once or twice a month. But P&G also puts coupons in the SmartSource and RedPlum inserts on weeks they don't have their own insert. It's hit or miss who gets them. The CoverGirl (P&G product) B1G1F coupon is very valuable, but not everyone will get it. This is where the various coupon-clipping services come into play. Some will have this coupon, some won't. Also check the four RC Trading boards, and EBay. Hopefully, RiteAid or Walgreens will have a CoverGirl B1G1F sale sometime before 5/31/10, and we'll all walk out with a bag full of free CoverGirl and a big grin.

Love Those Free Item Coupons

Did you get a coupon for a free bag of Sunchips (to $3.99) in the mail today? I think this was from one of those Facebook promos. Talk about a dazzling coupon! This one is super colorful on slick high gloss paper with a metallic security strip across the top, plus a unique serial number -- it looks completely counterfeit-proof. I wonder if it was almost as expensive to produce as the free product it is offering. I've got a nice little handful of free coupons to redeem today (see picture) including free SunChips, free Fresh Step (thanks Paw Points), free Cat's Pride to $7, free YoPlus to $2.79, and free VitaminWater to $1.49. I only had to earn one of those, the Fresh Step. All the rest were free for the asking, mostly by becoming a fan on Facebook.  When refunding was in its heyday, free item coupons were very common in return for UPCs and boxtops. Because of fraud, they almost disappeared. Now they are back, and for most of them, you don't even have to send in proofs of purchase.

"I just read this article. If you live in WI or anywhere else you should email this politician and tell him No! You don't want this law. This is exactly what they did in Maine and it backfired because companies just didn't offer rebates there at all and those of us that actually follow through on rebates would be denied doing them. This is bad news for WI refunders. The reason rebates work is because the company knows a certain amount of people won't complete them. They can't afford to give everyone who walks in the store the after rebate price so those of us that do complete rebates depend on others to not complete them so the companies can continue to offer them. Thanks Tayler. If I were a Wisconsin resident, I'd email State Senator John Lehman and set him straight ASAP. Be calm, explain how much rebates mean to you, and explain that this is a free country where manufacturers can offer any legitimate promotions they want. Point out that because of the same legislation in Maine, manufacturers now exclude ME residents from participating in all refunds. The legislation in RI backfired. Instead of insuring that everyone gets a rebate, it insured that NO ONE gets a rebate. That does
NOT help consumers.

The P&G Year of Savings refund offer for a $100 Coupon Book has been extended to 5/30/10. You have to buy $50 in P&G products to qualify, which isn't has hard as it sounds. With the B1G1F coupons in the latest P&G inserts, and the tons of free CoverGirl makeup that readers scored at RiteAid a few weeks ago, it could mean very little out of pocket, nowhere near an actual $50 expense. KMart Doubling/List of Stores/Coupons to Print

Tomorrow is the big day at KMart. $2 coupons will be doubled, limit 5 per day. You must have a Shop Your Way Rewards card which you can get in-store. Check the list of stores participating here. The doubles will last all week. I heard one rumor that only one like coupon will be doubled per day, but I haven't confirmed that.

I received an email from an RC subscriber, Linda P, who works at KMart. Here is what she was told in a store meeting about the upcoming doubles starting Sunday:

"The majority of the stores are participating so everyone will want to check their store. It is not listed in our ad so I do not know about other areas, but her are the details and this time around the doubling will be closely regulated so here is the regulations:

* Doubling will only be allowed to those who have a shopyourwayrewards card. You can sign up that day or before if you don't have one.

* There is a limit of 5 coupons per customer per day. Up to 2.00. It will be enforced because the computers will be programmed that way. If you try to use 6 the first 5 will be doubled and the 6th one will not. If you try 2 separate transactions the second transaction will not double. But you must have the rewards card and it must be scanned before any product has been scanned.

* The rewards card gives you 1% back on all purchases and can be used at anytime.

* The reasons for the restrictions is not because Kmart wants to be cruel about the coupons or because it was abused, but they are trying various way to help the consumer and Kmart. It is very smart marketing.

* Throughout our sales ads every week there is opportunities to earn double or triple rewards on the purchases. It is a great program, since November I have accumulated 19.00 and used a portion of it to buy a movie."

The Fandango code you receive will be good until 8/31/10. If you've never used Fandango, it's pretty easy. You log on at www.fandango.com and select the theater, movie, and time you want to see. You enter the code and print out a ticket. You take the ticket to the theater and exchange it for a real ticket. Not every theater participates, so do a little homework first and make sure a theater near you accepts Fandango tickets. Of course you could always trade the code on the trade boards if you don't have a theater near you. Also note there is no limit stated on the form. Hershey offers generally have generous or no limits. It's possible it is unlimited.

Prevent Slippage With These Habits

This advice is prompted by a post on Chat:



Fight slippage! Even though we as refunders should be the best at mailing in our refunds, sometimes we are victims of slippage caused by our own disorganization, laziness, or forgetfulness. To fight refunds lost from our own mistakes, here are tried and true habits to make your own:


1. Keep envelopes, pen, address labels, an Exacto knife, and stamps in a kitchen drawer.


2. When you unpack your groceries, put refund items on the counter in a separate place along with the cash tape.


3. Circle items on the receipt, cut off the UPCs, filled out the envelope and form, address, seal and stamp it.


4. Set the envelope to go out in the mail.


5. Put away the product in your cupboard. The trick is to not put it away until the refund is in a sealed envelope ready to mail.


6. Mail it!


7. If the rebate takes multiple purchases done at separate times, address the envelope and keep it in the kitchen drawer. Add cash tapes and UPCs as you buy the products. When you complete the refund, seal and mail immediately.


8. Resolve never to lose another refund.
